My hats off to romance...
I started reading romance when I was in the 8th grade. I have that title still, but not the original book. The book was loaned to me by a friend in English class. It was, So Speaks the Heart, by Johanna Lindsey. I fell in love with romance then. My second book was called, Betray Not My Heart. I can’t remember who wrote this one. It was set during the time of the Inquisition.
Well, of course, I was made fun of for having my nose shoved into these torrid books, with half clad men and women in a passionate embrace on the covers until one day that all changed…
Finals time! Yes, in the eighth grade we had two weeks of final testing for the year. We studied and slaved over our text books and the history portion finally came around. I worked hard, answered every question to the best of my ability. A few days later we got our tests back and to the utter shock of the entire 8th grade class only one person got all four questions correct regarding the Inquisition.
That’s right.
It was me!
When the teacher announced this, those in this particular class all turned and looked at me and asked, “How? We didn’t study it in class.”
With smug satisfaction, I leaned back in my chair, crossed my arms and said, “Betray Not My Heart.” Confused, they only stared at me and so I explained how I had read a romance novel that was based during the time of the Inquisition and that I had learned something while reading my smut novel. Ha! In their faces!
So, it has been my experience that yes…there is something to learn in romance, erotica, love stories, smut novels…whatever you want to call them and I will gladly keep reading and writing them.
So please enjoy this tid bit from Bait and Switch and who knows, we might learn something. LOL!~

One workaholic. One gigolo. One week in Sin City. You do the math…
Frisky Business, Book 1
Anna Jackson’s ex-boyfriend may have stolen her promotion, but she’s not mad. Not anymore. She’s getting even—by beating him at his own game. So what if she has to give up all her free time and any semblance of a personal life? With a partnership in a law firm as prestigious as Beckam, Beckam and Leland on the line, she’s willing to pay the price.
Las Vegas escort Devon McGuire is charming, sexy, and damn good at pleasing women. He’d better be, it’s what he gets paid for. Always up for a challenge, he’s looking forward to his newest job. Who wouldn’t enjoy a week as the companion of a smart, sultry, high-powered attorney—no strings attached?
Devon’s used to pushing boundaries, but there’s something about Anna that makes him want to turn up the steam. And when she learns to let go and unexpectedly opens to him, he finds himself falling right in.
Whoa, hold it. Love was never part of the plan…
Warning: This book contains a sizzling, drop-dead gorgeous, sex-on-a-stick gigolo who wants to make women’s fantasies come true, and a woman who won’t cooperate and let him do his job.
Excerpt:
Anna peeked out of her room, left then right. Four o’clock in the afternoon. She’d ditch early. Her work was done, notes were organized, and she’d added the final touches for her presentation.
She stepped out of her room and raced down the hall. She came around the corner and yelped when Devon stepped in her path. He caught her as she tripped and fell against him. What was it with her and tripping around him anyway?
“Going somewhere?”
His deep voice melted over her senses like warm honey. She glared up at him, trying not to feel the effect of that low timbre but failing miserably. “I was just running down to get something from the gift shop,” she lied.
He smirked. “I think you were going to try to get out of our date this evening.”
She shoved away from him and his hands slid easily into his jean pockets. He leaned against the wall with all the casualness of a man comfortable in his own skin. He looked good. Of course he would in his casual fit jeans and tight black T-shirt that stretched over broad shoulders, emphasizing his sinewy arms and rock-hard stomach. He literally dripped sex appeal and delicious, steamy dreams.
Struggling to compose herself, she retorted, “Well, you can think whatever you want. I was going to one of the gift shops.”
He stood straight and immediately offered her his arm. “In that case, allow me to escort you.”
Flustered, but trying not to show it, she took his arm and let him lead her toward the elevator. “What are you doing here so early, anyway?”
“I was told you might try ditching me by a friend of yours, so I thought I’d pop over early and surprise you.”
Anna sighed in frustration. “Well there was no need.” He smiled down at her as he held the elevator door, the white gleam of his teeth sexy as hell against his bronzed skin.
“I guess I had nothing to worry about then, my apologies.”
She didn’t say anything, guilt now nagging at her. She shouldn’t be upset with him since she really had been trying to sneak out of their date.
Giving in to defeat, she resigned herself for an evening with Devon. The least she could do was be civilized. “No, you don’t need to apologize. I’m sorry. I’m just not sure what—”
He cut her off, moving in close as the elevator descended. His heat enveloped her, his masculine scent and slight aftershave clouded her senses. She sucked in a breath as one arm moved around her waist, his body effectively pinning her to the wall. Fire jolted across every nerve ending.
“I told you. We can do whatever you want and nothing that you don’t. Just relax and enjoy yourself, Anna.” He grasped a hand, lifting it to his lips. She watched, mesmerized, as he peeled open her tightly clenched fingers and placed a kiss in the center of her palm.
The sweet sting of his lips lashed like a whipcord up her arm to settle in a pool of writhing need in her belly. Her legs wobbled and melting to the floor seemed inevitable. Thank God for the wall behind her.
She stared wide-eyed at him. He was tall, gorgeous and polite, sexy and funny. The list rattled on in her mind, as her mouth went dry and she almost screamed in her head not to lick her lips. Dear Lord, what was it about him that just drew her in? Then the answer hit her and the effect was like a cold bucket of water dousing all the heat that had been fueling through her body, leaving her chilled to the bone.
He was really good at his job.
